Flat panel interfacing is a conceptually simple application that in practice is complex due to the proliferation of interface standards and panel models. Reach provides solutions to connect panels to standard and embedded PCs and can provide everything the OEM needs including cables and backlight inverters and integrated touch controllers.

Flat panels are used in a wide variety of applications. They can be in close proximity to the computer driving them, or a significant distance away. They can connect to legacy equipment or the latest mass-market motherboard. There are tradeoffs in cost and flexibility and image quality that need to be made in all applications. Recently several digital interface standards have been developed: these include PanelLink. FPD-Link, and Open LDI (LVDS). Digital transmission has distance and image quality advantages over the old-style VGA analog standard but none of the new standards has become ubiquitous. Reach’s job is to help the OEM navigate this maze of standards and panel options.

Digital projectors using DLP and other technologies also need special interfacing for boardroom and other locations requiring long cable runs and high image quality. Reach has extender solutions for these problems as well.

Test Equipment

Test equipment is a wide field that includes any item that a manufacturing organization uses to test its products or sub-assemblies. Reach customized equipment can facilitate test setup, reduce test cost, and provide shorter test time. Examples include switches to automate cable swapping, lower cost versions of specialty equipment such as DSL line simulators, and intelligent distributed power environmental test racks. These applications are identified when a test engineer contacts Reach for possible ways to improve or lower the cost of production test or perform tests not possible with standard equipment.
